I have a theory regarding the Death Note. I'm wondering if it's stupid or if it's actually plausible. Hear me out:

Okay, I decided that the death notebook is not only a tool to extend a shinigami's life but a tool to train and create new shinigami.

My evidence:

1) The shinigami are dependent upon the lives of humans and feel human emotions and possess humanoid reasoning ability

2) The pages and pages of rules regarding the use of the note in the human world, which would be unneccessary if it was never meant to be used outside of the shinigami realm

3) The shinigami owner of the notebook only meets the human finder and watches over them after the human uses it

4) A human who uses the note, like Light, is basically taking on the role of a shinigami in the human world, deciding who lives and who dies. Essentially, getting used to doing a shinigami's job.

5) Ryuk's statement in vol 1 that Light would make a fine shinigami and Rem's statement in vol 7 that Light's already surpassed the shinigami (by bringing about her death)

6) According to the rules, a human who uses the note will go neither to heaven or to hell. In vol 12 Light decided this meant that there is no heaven or hell and all go to nothingness upon their deaths, and Ryuk agrees, although we all know Ryuk will pull people's legs for his own amusement.

7) The shinigami (mentor?) alone decides when and where the human owner dies.

I floated this theory by my irl anime club and they all laughed at me.
